Pattern Curator Notes
Traditionally karakami is a printing technique done on paper, not on apparel. What seems to be trending is a mix of techniques, not just mixed patterns. The idea of this Asian influenced woodblock printing gives simple motifs a new look and feel that is familiar yet unexpected. Also known as woodblock, the aesthetic for karakami printing is less from the Indian culture and has more of a Japanese influence. Color is desaturated and muted, natural.
